By combining Rachael Linton’s mastery of traditional gilding with Sam Walker’s deep expertise in woodwork and architectural construction, we have created a powerhouse of technical skill. We don’t just house artwork; we engineer and finish bespoke frames that are themselves works of art. And while we pride ourselves on a flawless process, we’ll be the first to admit: we do cut corners - but only at a perfect 45-degree angle.
Classical to Contemporary
While we are renowned for handmaking, restoring, and conserving gilt picture frames with history, we also craft bespoke contemporary frames designed to perfectly complement your artwork. From quality matt boards and glass to carefully selected mouldings, every frame is tailored to your taste, whether classic, or strikingly modern.
We have in a limited selection of rare ramin wood mouldings, alongside frames sourced from trusted New Zealand and international suppliers, allowing us to offer framing that is both distinctive and enduring. Our framing is sought by collectors, estate owners, museums, galleries and individuals commissioning new frames for treasured artworks, as well as those looking to preserve and enhance existing frames.
Our handmade frames are crafted using a variety of traditional and specialist techniques to suit both classical and contemporary artworks. From gesso, bole, and gilding to shellac, ebonised, and ivory finishes, we layer colours, washes, and patinas to create depth and character. Frames may be gilt with genuine gold leaf in a range of carats, or with imitation Dutch metal leaf, and finished with decorative corners, sgraffito panels, compo mouldings and subtle antiquing. We also offer bespoke new frames that can be made to look aged, using painting effects to achieve antique finishes, perfect for complementing both traditional and modern pieces. If you have a reference or image in mind, we can create a faithful, handcrafted replica, marrying meticulous craftsmanship with your individual vision.
We guide clients through a full spectrum of styles from bespoke gilt frames, to sleek contemporary frames. Every piece is handmade in our Hawea Flat workshop, with meticulous attention to detail and a deep respect for the art of framing.
